Dhaka Metro Rail Service Halted for 15 Minutes Due to External Wire on Electric Line
The Dhaka Metro Rail service was temporarily suspended for at least 15 minutes today (Sunday). While the authorities initially announced a 30-minute closure, the service resumed after just 15 minutes.
The cause of the disruption was a wire thrown from outside that landed on the Metro Rail’s electric line between Pallabi and Mirpur-11. The authorities initially estimated 30 minutes to remove the wire.
Service Interruption Details
At 12:41 PM, the Metro Rail authorities posted an announcement on Facebook:
The Authority stated: “It is announced for the kind information of the esteemed passengers of the Metro Rail that due to a wire being thrown from outside onto the electric line between Pallabi and Mirpur-11, the Metro Rail will be closed today from 12:40 PM to 1:10 PM for its removal. The Metro Rail Authority sincerely regrets the temporary inconvenience.”
However, the Metro Rail resumed operation earlier than the announced time of 1:10 PM. At 12:55 PM, the authorities confirmed the resumption of service:
The Authority confirmed: “Train movement resumed at 12:55 PM after the completion of the wire removal from the electric line. The Metro Rail Authority sincerely apologizes to the passengers for this temporary inconvenience.”
